Endeavor Academy: Another Alternative to Support Students

This past August, the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus, or in short the CCIC opened, giving an opportunity for students as an alternative path to help students explore new areas and succeed once graduating, but there is also another schools that students have an opportunity to go to: Endeavor Academy.

According to the school’s overview, the goal of the school is to “prepare students for post-secondary transitions by re-engaging them in the learning process using traditional and non-traditional instruction in an academically rigorous and personalized learning environment.” Endeavor is an alternative school that helps students who are struggling in school to get back on track through ways to help students succeed in school and earn a diploma, located at 14076 East Briarwood Avenue in Centennial, only 2 miles from the CCIC.

Jill Brinig is a counselor at Eaglecrest explains the helpful process to help students enter Endeavor.

Brinig explains, “Your counselor can work with you to figure out if you’re behind on credits, are there specific supports that you need that we may not be able to provide you at Eaglecrest, Endeavor could be a good fit for you in terms of their structure and what they have offered there, or if there is something else we should look at.”

From this school, students can experience a more personalized experience at Endeavor with flexibility and a more personalized given than what other high schools may have available for them.

Ms. Brinig continued that, “There is also an advisory class that meets everyday that has 12 students per teacher for a chance to have one staff member that you can connect with really well and have that opportunity to build relationships with. Of course kids can do this here at Eaglecrest, it’s a little harder to do with a larger high school.”

So while there are many opportunities that students can experience, it comes down to the success.

“We have had a lot of students come back to us and say, ‘That was the best thing I ever did’ and ‘I was able to be successful,’” stated Signe DeJong, who is also a counselor here at Eaglecrest.

DeJong continued that, “The majority of the students that go over there are able to be successful and get their diploma.”

As the CCIC gains more attraction and attention for the new programs that give students more paths to explore, Endeavor can create an experience that can help some students to get back on track and succeed in a more personalized high school environment that can carry them even further in life.
