Bully Prevention Week Overview

Chyenne Alexander, Reporter

Bully prevention week.  This is an annual event that takes place every year in October. This reason being, October is the month of Bully Prevention. This event was made in 2006 by PACER’s organization to help spread awareness to children who are being bullied or have been, and it’s become a nationwide event ever since.

Now, it was brought up in discussion that our school isn’t participating in this event. No one even knew what it was.  Being shocked by this I brought it to the attention of one of our admin, Mr. Romme, to get more information about it.

After giving background information on this event to Romme, he carried on our conversation with bringing up No Place For Hate, one of our many clubs that we have here at Eaglecrest. No Place For Hate is a student led group that helps shine light on all of our students, and helps take down everything negative that goes on here at Eagle.

Romme continued on expanding everything this amazing group has done, “They’re nationally recognized for their work with bully prevention.”

In our library you can see the banner that they received for their work. They give opportunity to everyone who feels like people are against them, and they’re a very supportive group of individuals that helps spread inclusions around the school.

We as a school may not have a week dedicated to preventing bullying, but with No Place For Hate we have an amazing group of students who help to make it a safer environment at our school so no one feels excluded or alone.
