Early Start to a Successful Season

In the spring, the Eaglecrest girls lacrosse team comes alive on the field as they pass, catch, and score their way through the season. And though the 2019 season officially came to a close in May, the team wasn’t finished. Their training and team building is year-round, not confined to one season. This summer, the team participated for six weeks in a recreational league through South Suburban Parks and Recreation, winning three of their six games. On Saturdays, the girls came together for what they call ‘summer ball’, a game that allowed them to hone their skills and provided a chance for team bonding. And although most of the summer girls lacrosse spent their time as a team, some of the individual players also took advantage of lacrosse summer camps hosted by the University of Denver.

By preparing for their season year-round, the girls lacrosse team hopes to be better equipped for their upcoming spring season. The players view lacrosse as a continual commitment and are persistently working to improve themselves as athletes. This past summer gave the girls a chance to step up into leadership roles in the team as well as develop the team’s dynamic. Summer training was particularly important because it welcomed new players onto the team and allowed returnees to stay in touch. The trust and support among the girls were bolstered by the amount of time they spent together, making for a strong team bond.

And though their last season went well, both the players and their coach are looking to achieve a winning season by providing opportunities to improve over the summer, fall, and winter. With recreational league experience, team practices and games, and a continually supportive atmosphere, the girls lacrosse team certainly had a fruitful summer.
