Throughout this year The Eagle Quill has made it our mission to deliver news that is important to our student body. Not only the news that goes on in Eaglecrest, but also the news that goes on in the world around us. In our mission to do so, we have given different people a platform to voice their perspective of the world around them. We have made our best effort to deliver the news that impacts students. And as we release our last print edition, we hope to have been of service to the students and staff here.

We have had the privilege and responsibility of producing the news that is important to Eaglecrest students and in this issue we are highlighting mental health and the effect it has on everyone. Regardless of how it affects us, every person is deeply valued.

Although the system isn’t perfect, the staff at Eaglecrest are constantly working to help students who suffer with mental illness on limited resources. Our emotions are valid. Our feelings are valid. Our pain is valid. We don’t have to do this alone. We urge everyone to take account of their mental state and get help if they need it.

Along with taking account of our own mental health, we should be mindful of the mental health of our loved ones. We are accountable for each other’s struggles as a community making sure everyone has access to mental health professionals.

We have also made it a goal to help the students at Eaglecrest exercise our First Amendment right to freedom of the press. We want to continue to empower students to educate themselves on their rights and to use their voices to impact their community. Students are strong as individuals, but as a community we can accomplish more than we could have imagined on our own. If we stay unified we can be greater than we ever thought we could be on our own.
