Triumph, challenge, and victory. That was the scene at EHS on Wednesday January, 24 when the Raptors defeated the Cherokee Trail Cougars in a phenomenal 20 point home victory. And a well deserved victory at that.

The Raptors and the Cougars both started off the game strong. Both teams went back and forth all throughout the first quarter. Using great teamwork and overall amazing chemistry, the Raptors finished off the first quarter leading 14-13.

Going into second quarter was a breeze as the Raptors established a seven point lead within the first four minutes. The Cougars were still strong with an impressive offensive effort, but it was no match for the Raptor defense and Eaglecrest’s number four XaVion Jackson. Raptors ended  the first half with a big bang from number ten Braden Bunn, capping off seven straight points to end the second quarter with a 33-27 Raptor lead.

The Raptors continued to utilize their offensive skills in the third quarter with Morgan Brown knocking down not one, but two dunks with assists from Darius Houston. But that’s not all that came within the third quarter. Aaron Bokol knocked down a clutch corner 3 giving the Raptors a 43-32 lead with 4:02 left in the third. The Raptors finished off the third quarter strong with a 54-37 lead.

The Raptors enjoyed their time in the fourth as the Cougars desperately tried to catch up.

The Raptors offered both amazing offense with out-of-this-world assists and layups and lock-down defense with great undefeated blocks throughout the night. The Raptors closed out the Cougars with a 74-54 win. This puts the Raptors at 10-6 in league.

“We really focused on team chemistry and utilizing our own skills as well as fundamentals to win the game tonight,” remarked Darius Houston. Truthfully, it was a sight to be seen and shows Raptor pride to its fullest in this phenomenal victory.
