24 hours a day. 8 hours for school. 5 school days. 7 days in a week. How do we manage to keep up with everything we do? Let’s be honest. School alone can be a struggle to keep up with, but what about the other things we may be involved in outside of school? We interviewed some of our fellow students to get a closer look into what a busy schedule being a part of a different sport or activity outside of school might be like, and the struggles they may go through with balancing school too.
Senior, Connor Fraustro who attends Aurora School of Rock, and is in the headliners show. Being involved with music is nothing new to him. His dad and grandma both introduced him to music in his early years, and it’s stuck with him ever since. He got involved specifically with School of Rock at the end of last year. Although managing school along with practices can be tough, Connor still finds a way to make time for practice, because he wants to uphold that commitment he made.
“I have my private lessons once a week,” said senior Connor Fraustro. “Then I have a group lesson once a week, so those night. I can’t do like any homework or anything like that.”
Christian is a sophomore who does taekwondo. He chooses to do this rather than something at the school because he hasn’t found anything that speaks to him as much as taekwondo. One of the main reasons he’s passionate about doing this is because it brings him to a good state of mind that he’ll be able to protect others around him. In his experience, it’s pretty easy to balance school and practices because he only does this two days a week.
“This is something that gives me a sense of security that I can protect others and my family,” stated sophomore Christian Diggins.
Quinn is a sophomore and she does horseback riding. She loves riding but it can be a struggle to do so because she often doesn’t have enough time for it on top of homework. Quinn has been horseback riding for almost twelve years now and over time she’s learned different ways to better manage how she can do this. Luckily she is usually able to schedule around her riding and make things more flexible to fit her needs.
“I’ve done this since I was four years old, so I’ve just always loved animals and it’s been a stress reliever for me,” said sophomore Quinn Chambers.
Out of school activities along with school can be challenging to deal with, and find time for. Most of these students find certain ways to correctly manage their time. School is a big time consumer on its own and having other things to do after can be a struggle over time. When students are involved with something they truly are interested and doing, they’ll find time for it because that’s a commitment they made.
