Grindelwald Casts A Spell

When the words “Harry Potter” are uttered, everybody knows either the movies, books, or both. J.K Rowling created a movie empire by writing her Harry Potter Book Series. Now, seven years after The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. was released, Fantastic Beasts is being produced and released to all Potterheads. The first of the series was released in 2016, and the second, Crimes of Grindelwald, came out in theaters November 16. The first movie was created to let the audience get to know the characters and give the audience a feel of the world before Harry Potter.

The beginning of the movie started 6 months after the first ended–6 months after Grindelwald was captured by the American Ministry of Magic. Right from the start, the audience was enraptured by the movie, opening with the classic Harry Potter theme song, with a fantastic twist. The very first scene ends with a plot twist and even as a Wizarding World fanatic I didn’t see it coming.

Littered throughout the movie are Easter Eggs pertaining to Harry Potter. However, if you hadn’t read the books, you would not catch them. The eggs add a bit of side excitement, proving that the time period was before Harry Potter. The Easter eggs also show the audience who all the Potterheads are.

However, there are a lot of people who do not like Harry Potter as much as others, nevermind Fantastic Beasts. If you were not a fan of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, you would not like the second one. Though, because the first movie was created to help the audience get comfortable with the different characters in the Wizarding World, some did not like the movie for that reason. The second movie Crimes of Grindelwald has more action and takes a bigger step into the overall plot of the series.

Even though the movie was well made and enjoyable, at times it seemed that the producers tried too hard to make the movie compare to the Harry Potter movies in terms of the magic and the amazing world. Some things would make something predictable in the future because you know that event from the Harry Potter universe. As a fan of the whole universe, the movie was excellent and should be a must see movie.

Filled with action, magical creatures, and unexpected plot twists, Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald, is a fun movie for all.
