Boy’s Basketball Starts Fresh under Coach Krapcha
December 14, 2017
Basketball season is underway for the Raptors. Boys basketball has played six games so far this season and are currently sitting at four and two.
This season is the first season under Head Coach Jarris Krapcha after former Head Coach John Olander retired after leading Eaglecrest basketball to their second championship.
“We have made some great strides in the last month. That first weekend tournament was a little rough. We’re introducing some guys into some new roles that they weren’t accustomed to, so having them playing big minutes against good teams was a challenge.” Coach Krapcha commented about his new team.
Over the past two weeks the raptors have had three games, including one of those being against the number one ranked team by CHSAA: Rock Canyon. Rock Canyon came into this game losing to us last year in the final four. They were also returning their two best players in Tyson Gilbert and Sam Masten.
The game was very close through four quarters but ultimately the Raptors lost 59-53.
The second game of the week was against Chatfield. “They’re a good team, they like to push the ball ,so we have to get back on defense and play our game and we’ll be good.” Junior Aaron Bokol commenting on chatfield.
The Raptors would go on to win this game 54-33. Senior Brandon Bunn would go 100% from three point range shooting a four for four clip on the night. He had some comments on his season this far, “I think I’ve been playing well, But I’m not worried about me I’m just worried about my team winning.”
This week the raptors faced Boulder high school in a non league matchup. Boulder previously came into this game two and two on the season while raptors were looking to improve on their three and two record. The Raptors did just that, beating Boulder 50-30. Ten players contributed in the scoring category for the Raptors. They were lead by senio Xavion Jackson(nine points) and Sekou Torre(eight points). The Raptors played Fort Collins Thursday night.
