The Nest Game of the Week (2/13-2/17)

The Eagle Quill’s game of the week is the Lady Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. the Lady Raptors in a home game. The Raptors are coming off against a tough loss against the Grandview Wolves, so they’re looking forward too bouncing back in the Wednesday night game at 5:30.

In their first game against Smoky Hill, the Raptors won 65-32. The ladies were down 9-10 during the first quarter, but they came out and skyrocketed outscoring the Buffaloes, 21-2. The Raptors were led by senior and LCCC (Laramie County Community College) commit Jessica Stoner who had 30 points (a couple of points away from the school record). More importantly during the game, the young Raptors got a chance to shine. Freshman Alexis Dixon and Maddie Unrein both got a chance to play some key minutes, and both put points on the board. They gave us a glance into the future when they played guard and center tandem.

The Raptors are currently 8-13 and only have two games left in the season. This will be a crucial game for them leading into playoff time. A chance to perfect their defensive schemes, offenses, defensive rebounding, and press break defenses is exactly what they need, and this game will give them that chance.
