Leading up to the Super Bowl, the Chiefs did not have to play in the first round of playoffs because they managed to finish the regular season with a 15-2 record and received the number one seed in the playoffs. In the second round, they played the Houston Texans and beat them 23-14. For the AFC Championship game, the number one seed Kansas City Chiefs played the number two seed Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs outwitted the Bills and beat them with a score of 32-29 to advance to the Super Bowl.
On the NFC side, the Eagles finished with a 14-3 record and earned themselves the second seed for playoffs. In the first round, the Eagles played the Packers and beat them 22-10. For the Divisional round, the Eagles matched up against the Rams in a snow-packed game. The Eagles conquered the Rams 28-22. In the NFC Championship, the number one seed Philadelphia Eagles hosted the number six seed Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles leveled the Commanders with a final score of 55-23.
Impact:
For the first time in NFL history, a team had a chance to 3-peat. The Kansas City Chiefs won the 2022-23 Super Bowl against the Eagles 38-35 and then went on to win the 2023-2024 Super Bowl against the 49ers 25-22. This could have cemented their dynasty as one of if not the best of all time.
The Eagles lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 2 years ago. This game was a chance for them to get their revenge on a team that beat them 2 years prior. Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been facing a lot of backlash and hate all season.
“Jalen Hurts is a product of all the talent around him,” said popular sports analyst Nick Wright.

This Super Bowl gave Jalen Hurts a chance to prove all of his doubters wrong and show that he is a very capable NFL quarterback.
Super Bowl:
To start the game, each team sent out their Super Bowl team captains. The Cheifs sent out Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Nick Bolten, Harrison Butker, and James Winchester while the Eagles sent out Jordan Mailata, Brandon Graham, and Darius Slay. The Chiefs won the initial toss with tails and elected to defer the ball to the Eagles.
The first drive for both teams were three and outs. Once the Eagles got the ball back for their second time, they made quick work with Jalen Hurts throwing a deep ball for 27 yards to Jahan Dotson to place them down at the one yard line. After that, the Eagles lined up for the Tush Push to score the first points of the game and gain 7 points.
After the touchdown, the Eagles kicked off to the Chiefs and placed them at the 30-yard line. The Eagles defense forced another quick three and out. The Chiefs punted the ball back to the Eagles to place them at the 47-yard line. After Jalen Hurts hit Aj Brown on the sideline for a 30-yard gain, the Chiefs forced a stop and made the Eagles kick a field goal to go up 10-0 nearing the end of the first.

The Chiefs received the ball again after kickoff on their own 25. The Eagles defensive line sacked Patrick Mahomes on back to back plays to back them up to their own 16 yard line. On a 3rd & long play, Patrick Mahomes faced pressure from Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat. He ended up throwing the ball directly into an Eagles defender’s hands. The defender was rookie Cooper Dejean. He brought his interception 37 yards back to the endzone to score another touchdown for the Eagles. The score was then 17-0.
On the Chief’s next drive after the kickoff, Patrick Mahomes threw another interception to the Eagle’s middle linebacker, Zach Baun. This turnover placed the Eagles in the red zone on their own 13 yard line. On the first play of the Eagles drive, Jalen Hurts hit Aj Brown on an under route and Aj Brown took it all the way to the endzone for another touchdown. This extended the Eagles lead to 24-0 going into halftime.
The Chiefs received the ball in the second half. Additionally, the Eagles defense wouldn’t let up, forcing another three and out. The Chiefs offense had to punt the ball back to the Eagles.
The Eagles offense marched down the field to inside the 35 yard line, but stoppeded and were forced to kick a field goal to extend their lead to 27-0.
On the Chiefs next drive, their offense finally got a spark of momentum. However, on a 3rd down, DeAndre Hopkins dropped a wide open pass and the Chiefs were forced to punt again. Cooper Dejean fielded the punt and brought the ball back to the Eagles for a good return. He set up his teams offense for sucess. On the second play of the drive, Jalen Hurts threw the dagger 37 yards to DeVonta Smith for another touchdown. The score was then 34-0, and the Chiefs were buried even further.
The Chiefs offense finally found real energy and strength on the next drive. Patrick Mahomes hit Hollywood Brown and DeAndre Hopkins for a few short catch and runs all drive. The scoring play would come when Patrick Mahomes evaded pressure and hit Xavier Worthy for a touchdown from 20 yards out. The Chiefs attempted a 2-point conversion, but were stopped. The score was then 34-6.
The Eagles starting offense came back out for one more drive and were able to move into field goal range before being stopped and having to kick another field goal. The Eagles extened their lead to 37-6.
Eagles player Milton Williams sacked Patrick Mahomes for another turnover on the next Cheifs drive. The Eagles backup offense would go out for one of the final drives of the game. They would be stunted by the Chiefs defense and would be forced to kick the final field goal of the game and extend their lead even further to 40-6.
For the Chiefs last two drives on offense, the Eagles backup defense played for the rest of the game and let up two pointless touchdowns which allowed the score be a lot closer than it should have been.The score would was then 22-40.
The Eagles sent out their backups on offense for the last 34 seconds to kneel out the clock.
Once the clock hit 0, the Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl in history and got revenge on the team that beat them two years prior.
Jalen Hurts ended up winning Super Bowl MVP with 300 all purpose yards and 3 touchdowns.
