Cougars Got No Claws
Rivalry Homecoming game for the Raptors, showing no mercy to the ones who doubted. This is what you missed at the Friday night Homecoming game.
Ending off the Homecoming week with a bang, our Raptors dominated the Cherokee Trail Cougars on Friday night under the lights. With big stakes and high energy, these boys had all eyes on them.
Starting the game off strong, the Raptors scored in the first quarter with an amazing pass by Quarterback Jacob Schmitt (Sr.) to Wide-Reciever Xavier Waldron (Soph.). The Raptors kept the Cougars in their place, holding them at 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Diego Cearns (Sr.) leads the team in rushing yards per game and total touchdowns along with Cam Chapa (Jr.) leading in tackles per game. This team is a force to be reckoned with.
The second quarter was a breeze for the Raptors, who made some serious progress, but a storm of chaos for the Cougars. Standing their ground, the Cougars did not score in the second quarter. Approaching halftime, the Raptors had yet to score again but maintained the lead at 7-0.
Half-time homecoming traditions called for the presentation and honoring of the amazing homecoming royalty, which included six Raptors. Followed by an energetic performance by some of the school’s best dancers, the Dance Company left the crowd cheering for more. Ending the quick but eventful half-time was a stellar Star Wars performance by the out-of-this-world marching band.
The energy was high in the student section as they pushed for the boys to keep the winning season alive and beat the CT Cougars.
Sprinting back onto the field, the Raptors were ready to finish what they started.
In the last 5 minutes of the third quarter, the Raptors were on fire and creating earth-shattering movement toward the end zone. With a big fumble by the Cougars, the Raptors were quick to recover and score yet again.
Making the Cougars look foolish, the Raptors put 23 more points on the board by the time the buzzer rang and the game was over. Diego Cearns had the honor of scoring the last touchdown of the game. The game ended with a final score of 30-0, Eaglecrest.
