The Eaglecrest Raptors are coming into this season fired up, starting with Arapahoe high school scrimmages. Before that first scrimmage, a new head coach has them preparing to bring the energy from the very first serve.
Sarah Nance is leading the Raptors for the first time is new head coach. The Eaglecrest English teacher and long-time assistant volleyball coach already has her girls full of fresh energy, pushing the team to give their all, and building a culture based off of consistency, control, and courage. With her passion and leadership, the Raptors are locked in and ready to rise to the next level with Coach Nance.
“I expect my girls to compete and play. We’re focusing on consistency, control, and courage this season,” Coach Nance said.
She added that stepping into this role she is looking to make positive relationships with players, and parents, and “competing at a high level in and out of League competition.”
With all that being said this squad is showing that they will leave it all on the court. Every play, every rally, 100% effort, no questions asked. Leading the team is Anayah Rucker, swinging with pure power and crushing kills that make the gym erupt with hype. She’s the spark the Raptors can count on to set the tone.
What do we expect from the raptors this season?
“A lot of progress will be made from the past seasons. We have so much talent on this team already, and as we actually get going with practices and games, our play will elevate very fast.” senior libero Ella Mack said.
Mack is often all over the floor, flying for every ball, yelling out commands, and locking in with her teammates to keep the Raptors connected. She’s the heart, the floor general, and the anchor that never lets up.
“This season, I’m most excited to watch my team grow together. I think we have a very high potential and I’m ready to see what that will look like for us. The talent and positivity on and off the court is something to look forward to,” said senior right side Kennadi Dreiling
At the net, Dreiling is a wall waiting to happen, ready to shut down anyone who dares challenge her. Kennadi sees the court while hitting, targeting and using her game knowledge to hit effectively.
Junior Taylor Slothower will be in the middle, an absolute beast who turns every ball coming her way into a statement. She’ll crush any ball coming at her right back down before you can blink. And don’t forget about Natalia Jarzebczyk, the setter running the show, connecting perfectly with her hitters and keeping the offense flowing. Always a step ahead and always making defenses look lost with her challenging reads.
With this crew on the court, the energy is electric, the plays are nonstop, and the Raptors are out to prove that every game is their game. This season, look for Eaglecrest volleyball, trust us, you don’t want to miss it.
The Raptors volleyball team shared that they love having support out at the games in the Nest.
