For week 6 of the football season, the Eaglecrest Raptors took on the Smoky Hill Buffs in a blowout victory on Saturday 10/5. The entire team had an impressive out with the offense putting up over 470 all purpose yards and the defense holding the Buffs to only two scores all game.
“We saw an opportunity and just passed the ball,” said senior Quarterback Joe Steiner
Joe Steiner had his best game yet of the season with 296 yards in the air and another 72 on the ground to end the day with 368 all purpose yards. The passing offense could not be stopped this game with 4 receivers having over 50 yards on the day including senior wide receiver Burke Withycombe with 50, sophomore wide receiver Jack Steiner with 55, senior wide receiver Brayden Black with 104 which led the entire team, and freshman running back Clyde Surrel with 58 yards.
The rushing attack was also not silent at all with 176 rushing yards. Quarterback Joe Steiner also led in rushing yards with 72 yards on 15 carries. Freshman running back Clyde Surrel also had a good day with 69 yards on 6 carries.
“Coaches make sure we are right every single week and prepare us,” said senior defensive end T’Mario Walters.
The defense had yet another strong outing this week versus Smoky Hill only allowing 2 scores all game. The defensive line continues to dominate, totalling 3 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss.
