Students at Eaglecrest strongly disagree about the new rules and paying for a parking pass just to park at school, the school thinks it’ll be better for everyone. However, to students it is a very controversial decision it allows the school to charge students and the opinions on the students who are more than walking distance away, to essentially be charged to come to school.
More students want to take a car to school because it’ll be easier for them to go buy lunch than wait in a long line here at school. Thats why a lot of students decide to eat off campus. However, when there are more parking passes than spaces available, there is a constant battle over parking spots, when one student leaves, another takes their place almost right away.
Some students strongly disagree with the new parking pass rules because they don’t find anything that will benefit them in the future. They also want the school to let them park in one of the student parking lots with no parking passes because some people can afford to get the parking pass.
Even with the prices Eaglecrest charges other schools charge even more than what eaglecrest charges; some are charging over 100 just for the parking passes. Eric Oglesby “It’s a fair price since there’s other schools that charge way more” which is true a lot of schools charge like 100 or even more just for a parking pass.
Students think it they should at least open one of the parking lots to just them and Junior Amberlynne Deverant said “I want one of the parking lots to be public to the students so we can park there without any parking passes”
Others think they should be required because of the way students drive in the parking lot. Security Guard Shaun Varndo stated, “There’s too many accidents in the parking lots and we need to stop them since the ones last year were one without one and it would take us more time to see who is who since some were hit and runs.”
There will always be students that drive to school with nothing or just a permit and with no parking pass.The school will just have to make new rules every year to try and prevent it from happening.
