Greg White has always been into golf. He first started golf when he was 2 years old, but he started realizing his potential at 11. His brother was once a prominent golfer here in Eaglecrest, who never shied away from giving Greg some brotherly advice.
“He gave me perspective on what’s really good and what’s not,” said junior Greg White. “He helped me learn from the mistakes he made.”
With the knowledge he was able to gain from his older brother and his persistent hard work, In his early years at EHS, White became one of Eaglecrests’s best up and coming golfers. As an underclassmen among an upperclassman dominated squad, White managed to become an integral piece of the roster, contributing to the school’s first ever entrance to the state golf competitions.
Now in his junior year, Gregory White has a different role to fill in. As an upperclassman, he is expected to be a leader and a driving force for further success in Eaglecrest golf. With his history here in Eaglecrest, he seems like a great leader for the team who can boost the overall potential of the program. However, this season, White’s objective isn’t just becoming a viable leader for the golf team.
“I want to win State,” said junior Greg White. “That’s my goal, and I feel like I have a pretty good chance.”
While the high school golf scene in Colorado is pretty competitive, this goal of White’s is not far fetched. After a promising start of the season, the Raptor has proven that he has a good chance of being named the best golfer in Colorado.
“My year’s going a lot better this year,” said junior greg White. “I’ve done pretty well. I’ve won twice already, and I have shot some of the lowest scores that we have in the turf in school history.”
As an advanced golfer who has his sights set on winning it all, Greg White is a dangerous competitor. He will give other golfers in the state a run for their money who have the same ambition as him. He has solidified himself as one the best golfers who have ever come out of Eaglecrest, and he is still only developing. With his talent and dedication, White can be among the top golfers in the state, and a catalyst of progress in Eaglecrest golf.
