Every year on the first day of school, all the seniors gather at Lookout Park to kick off the beginning of the end. They watch the sun come up while preparing to start their last year of high school, getting ready to say goodbye to a school they’ve known for 4 years and some friends they’ve known for even longer. While it may seem like a small event, Senior Sunrise means a lot to many of the seniors attending.
“It’s the beginning of something new for me,” said Senior Class President Meagan Jimenez, “it was an event I could look forward to start off my year with as much energy and positivity as possible knowing that it’s probably going to get tough.”
Jimenez, along with the other seniors in Student Council, helped plan the event over the last week of the summer, making sure that the year could start off with a bang.
The school year did indeed start off with a bang, as seniors showed up in droves starting as early as 5:45 in the morning to converse with friends and take advantage of the many photo opportunities that Senior Sunrise offers.
As the school year gets underway, seniors begin to experience quite a few of their lasts, trying to enjoy their last few moments of high school before being sent out on their own. These events, like Senior Sunrise, help seniors cherish the final dwindling moments of their high school career, as well as look forward to things to come.
