A Kentucky Takeover

Our EHS cheerleaders are our schools number one supporters, and they work so hard to be the best performers for every school function. Whether it be for a sporting event, or a raptor rally our cheerleaders are always giving their all. They started their 2019-2020 season 2 weeks prior to school ending last year. They are always working their hardest for us.

During the summer our cheer team attended the UCA Nationals, and they ended up placing 3rd in the 2019 NHSCC medium division 1 league.

When talking to senior, Carley Capra about how the cheerleaders took on camp this year she informed me that it was a 4 day camp that they attended at the University of Kentucky, and they practice 12 hours a day on multiple different things. Some of them being stunt classes, pyramid building and All American classes.

When talking to her I asked if she had seen improvements with the team as a whole, and she said that this year’s team is “ closer than ever”, and there is rarely any bickering between the group. Carley informed me that she tries her best as an older leader to make sure everyone is nice to each other, and she that she tries to make sure everyone is included because she really views the team as a small little family.

Along with interviewing Carley, I also had the chance to interview a new member to our cheer team, Bailey Stagner who is a sophomore this year also gave me her input on how she thought the camp went this summer. She let me know that he and the rest of the girls put in a lot of hard work when at this camp.

Bailey saw the group really come together over those 4 days being in a dorm with them, “ We really grew closer and learned a lot about each other.”

Another amazing opportunity our leaders experienced this year was attended the UCA Nationals and placing 3rd in their division. Continuing with talking to Carley, she informed me that last year was the best that our team has ever done.

In previous years we have placed 7th when we have gone, but when talking to Carley she let me know that “ it’s not about place it’s more about trying to make it into finals. We are competing against 80 teams in our division, so just being able to make it to finals is enough for us.”

With a great way to end the summer, our leaders are looking forward to this year’s new season that is upon us. We’re excited to see what our team has in store for us this year.
